Peptide Guide

Peptide Shelf Life & Stability Explained

Peptide stability depends on the compound, form, storage conditions, handling, and whether the vial has been reconstituted.

Lyophilized

Dry peptide powder is generally the more stable form, especially when kept cold, sealed, dry, and protected from light.

Reconstituted

Once mixed, peptides are more vulnerable to degradation and contamination. Refrigeration and clean handling become more important.

Factors that reduce stability

  • Heat exposure
  • Direct light
  • Repeated temperature swings
  • Contamination during handling
  • Aggressive shaking
  • Long storage after mixing
Best practice: keep records. Note when a vial was received, reconstituted, and first handled.
